The Research Center held the First Annual Book Fair 2023 on Saturday 17.06.2023 with the participation of eight speakers. Many literary and academic personalities attended.
First speaker:
Assist. Prof. Dr. Zeravan Abdulmuhsen Asaad, in his book (Kurdistan Illuminations), pointed out some points, including:
• That the book includes a discussion of (15) various topics distributed over three main axes (politics and security, administration, and economics, higher education), and that all these topics are on the Kurdistan region – Iraq, and that the first topic in the book was raised and discussed in the year (2005). ) and the last one in (2022).
• The book represents a vivid embodiment of linking academic institutions to society and its problems, while documenting some ideas in an academic and sound scientific methodology to present proposals for a solution to some existing problems.
• The book’s difference from the rest of the books comes from the use of scientific methodology in presenting topics, starting with identifying a problem that exists on the ground and analyzing it for the purpose of providing some solutions to the concerned parties, such as politicians, economists, leaders, and others.
• The book aims to introduce the Arab world to the Kurdistan region – Iraq, and in this book it represents illumination for the Arab researcher interested in the affairs of the region, in addition to providing the Arab reader with some contemporary Kurdish political, economic and educational issues.
Second speaker:
Assist. Prof. Dr. Bayar Mohammed Rasheed talked about his systematic book on Risk Management and Insurance, in which he indicated that insurance is one of the financial institutions and it is a means of confronting risks.
Dr. Bayar touched on the objectives of the book, which is concerned with the study of private and public insurance, its characteristics, the technical and legal principles regulating it, the study of its various types such as fire, automobile, marine, aviation, accident and civil liability insurance, the study of methods and types of reinsurance, cost calculation, premiums and technical allocations for general insurance, and the role of the state in supervision Oversight of insurance facilities – the book aims to develop students’ ability to differentiate between different types of insurance and their uses in practical life, apply technical and legal principles to them, learn about types and methods of reinsurance, and calculate premiums and technical provisions for insurance.
Third speaker:
Dr. Nawar Al-Saadi spoke about his author’s book “To Understand The World Understand Economics”, which consists of three parts with a total of (409) pages. And the national product, monopoly, demand and supply…etc., then the common economic systems such as the market, traditional and shared economy, in addition to the most important problems that the economy addresses such as (what do we produce, how do we produce and for whom do we produce).
As for the second part for the middle class, it deals with the importance of the economy in our daily lives as individuals, such as the financial management of the family, how to start investing, how to become a good financial analyst, the role of the economy in the performance of private sector companies, and then the importance of the economy for the state on the security, political and social levels.
While the third part of the book is devoted to the advanced category, in which it deals with: the global economy such as trade wars, international financial institutions, domination of energy, economic sanctions, financial crises, causes and solutions.
Then, Dr. Nawar concludes his book with predictions about the shape of the economy in the future, touching on the (knowledge economy), the impact of technology and globalization, clean energy, the most important jobs that are threatened with extinction, what are the alternative jobs, and what are the skills required for the upcoming labor market.
Fourth speaker:
Dr. Rebar Hssien Yousif started by talking about his author’s book entitled “The Legal Regulation To Save Of The Merchant From Bankruptcy Analysis & comparative Study”, where it touches on the fact that the Kurdistan Region of Iraq has been witnessing since the beginning of the year (2014) a financial crisis that resulted in the cessation of thousands of investment projects and the dismissal of many workers in private and public institutions, This crisis led to the inactivity of the commercial and economic movement in the region, as it caused the suspension of more than six thousand projects with different budgets and sizes, in addition to a slowdown in the movement of markets in the region, which caused many financial problems for contractors and companies.
And the current financial crisis has highlighted the need for a more tolerant deal with the companies that this crisis has affected, leading them towards bankruptcy. This is what we have tried to address in this book by shedding light first on the philosophy of the Iraqi legislator in organizing the provisions of bankruptcy, and the preventive reconciliation from it, and trying to evaluate it by searching for deficiencies and deficiencies in it, and then addressing the system of saving the merchant from bankruptcy that the laws adopt. The point of comparison, and the most important characteristics of this system.
Fifth speaker:
Mr. Ali Abdulqadir Mohammad told us about his translated book, describing that translating the “Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, 5th Edition: DSM-5” into Badin Kurdish is an important step in spreading awareness about mental health and increasing education about psychiatry, and is considered an important Badin linguistic resource For those working in the field of psychiatry, given that this book (DSM-5) is one of the most important sources that psychiatrists rely on in diagnosing mental disorders, if not the first in the world.
This book is issued by the American Psychiatric Association, known as (APA), which was founded in 1844 AD. It is the specialized organization that includes American psychiatrists and others from different countries. This organization is considered one of the largest psychological organizations that includes psychiatrists in the world. And the most famous. (KPA) issued the first edition of the book DSM-I in 1952, followed by several revisions and new editions, the last of which reached the fifth edition on 18/5/2013 called (DSM-5).
Sixth speaker:
Mr. Rayan Sadeeq Ahmad talked about writing about (First Aid), which contains information about the role of first aid, its training, specializations, equipment and basic skills to deal with different circumstances. The book also contains safety measures during the first aid procedure. This ensures that you are safe even when you are helping the victim. Of course, the language used in writing this book is easy to understand. You will be gifted with the knowledge about handling various emergency issues even without going to a first aid class.
Seventh speaker:
Mr. Safar Ayob talked about his translated book “The story of believing between philosophy and science and Quran” by the author Nadim Al-Jisr. Of course, in this book he takes us on a philosophical, scientific and religious journey that was about the hopes of the balanced sheikh who stopped worshiping after he delved into philosophy and was plagued by doubts about what a person might experience. On his student, Hayran bin Al-Adhaf, who is going through what he went through previously, and the whole book is a dialogue between these two men, Sheikh Al-Mawazun, who took the Imam Al-Bukhari Mosque near your treasury in Uzbekistan as the birthplace of Imam Al-Bukhari and his burial place as a place of worship for him, cut off from the world, and the student, Hayran bin Al-Adhaf, who came from India looking for The answers that made him uncomfortable, and he did not find any of the scholars listening to him.
Hayran bin Al-Adhaf writes in a paper the following words: Where, why, when and how? In order for Sheikh Al-Mawazun to know that this young student has been seized with the same doubts that he had experienced, and he came looking for faith, so he had to guide him, and he is the one who had cut off from worship.
Some of the ideas and examples that were put forward open closed areas in the mind and motivate it to think, such as the difference between perception and rationality. We reason some mental mathematical issues, but we do not visualize them, due to the fatigue of the human mind, and he gave him an example of a beautiful riddle, just as his words are about beauty and the feeling of it, and is there a tangible beauty or is it something Internal and about the power of faith and the difference between faith and conscience.
Eighth speaker:
Mr. Milham Akram Milham said about his translated book “The Power of Your Subconscious Mind”, which is one of the wonderful books on human development whose author tries to teach his readers some techniques on how to make your life easier while making difficult decisions and how to deal with your subconscious mind .. Dr. Joseph Murphy studied human nature and the mind He eventually discovered that whatever one believes in, whether good or bad, they will encounter in real life. If you believe in good, you will get it no matter what. All the bad things people think about in their minds during the day, he will experience in the real world because his mind directs him to evil and vice versa.
Then the activities of the annual book fair concluded with the distribution of books to the guests and attendees.
