The Consulting & Research Centre at Cihan University – Duhok conducted a workshop on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at the CRC Hall. The workshop, titled “Cybersecurity Awareness: a Necessity for Everyone,” aimed to educate participants on the importance of cybersecurity.

Dr. Mohammed Al-Ebady opened the session by emphasizing the significance of cybersecurity. He discussed user privacy, the risks associated with it, and the data policies of social networking sites. He highlighted how these platforms handle user data, the precautions users should take to avoid pitfalls, and general advice on enhancing security. Dr. Al-Ebady also covered the importance of cyber monitoring for user accounts across all electronic platforms, ways to avoid attackers’ traps, and strategies to mitigate the impact of cyber attacks.
Mr. Mohammed Nashwan focused on hacking through social engineering, a prevalent and critical method in the realm of cyber attacks. He explained the dangers posed to social media users and institutions, revealing the techniques used by cyber attackers and the different types of social engineering attacks. Mr. Nashwan also discussed four major fraud operations resulting from social engineering attacks, which led to significant financial losses for major institutions.
Throughout the session, participants engaged actively in interactive discussions, inquiries, and contributions, enhancing their understanding of cybersecurity.
